Skindred is a band that doesn't fail to impress with their unique sound and infectious energy. Originating from Wales, they formed in 1998 after their previous project Dub War. With their debut album "Babylon" released in 2002, Skindred's heavy guitars, aggressive drumming, and ragga vocals proved to be a powerful combination that instantly captured the attention of their listeners. The singles "Nobody" and "Pressure" remain timeless anthems that always get the adrenaline pumping. As the band continued to release new music, they stayed true to their sound and kept delivering high-octane performances on their albums "Roots, Rock, Riot" and "Shark Bites and Dog Fights". Skindred toured relentlessly, playing festivals and headlining shows across the world. Their fifth album "Union Black" in 2011 and "Kill the Power" in 2013, are both examples of their artistic growth and musical evolution. Skindred's music continues to inspire and energize audiences worldwide.
After changing their record label they have release two more albums: “Volume” and “Big Tings”.
Skindred played at Woodstock Festival in Poland where their show was attended by 1 million people! This was recorded in a documentary called “Rude boys for Life”, which was part of the deluxe edition of their “Volume” album (and now I think is available to watch on YouTube). But what can you expect from Skindred – a lot of energy, that’s what. They are a really great band to see live – you won’t be able to stand in one place for long. The fusion of punk, metal, ragga, electronic will make you move. Even though the reggae/metal mix has been done before (Bad Brains), Skindred adds something extra and make themselves easily distinguishable.
So if you are a metalhead but you also enjoy that Jah energy I’m sure you’ll enjoy what Benji and co. have to offer.
Skindred has consistently delivered a unique and powerful sound that has captivated fans around the world for over two decades. With their fusion of reggae, metal, punk, and other genres, they have carved out a niche for themselves that is truly one-of-a-kind. Their high-energy performances and infectious music continue to attract new fans, and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Skindred's music is a testament to the power of blending different styles and pushing boundaries, and their influence on the music industry is undeniable.
